Hello there hope you are all doing fantastic. I’m doing well. I know I’ve been gone for so long but sometimes you just have to check your priorities. See last year was a rough one for me health-wise.
Most of you already know I have Parkinson’s Disease and to top it off I winded up with a bad arm and was diagnosed with Adhesive Capsulitis also known as Frozen Shoulder. Its a condition characterized by stiffness and pain in your shoulder joint. I was in severe pain at times and couldn’t move my arm. After 8 weeks of PT and a cortisone shot I was still in lots of pain.
I went to see my movement disorder specialist and she said that I needed to move that arm and said I needed to start exercising again and trying to force the arm to move. My thoughts were ” is she crazy”? and “does she know how much pain this arm is causing me”?
Well sometime in May I joined the gym and started attending regularly. Although I was in pain but was trying really hard to push past it. In September my cousin Veronica Barthelemy recommended I follow Jessie Hilgenberg a fitness trainer on Instagram. I had followed so many so called trainer/coaches so what was one more.
After following Jessie I realized she knew her stuff and she seemed legit to me. I started using one of her 12 week programs in October and completed in December. I felt amazing and although I didn’t follow the program to the T because well I like to eat and not necessarily healthy. I noticed changes in my arms and legs, but the best change was that I could use my arm again. My arm is about 90-95 percent better and I’m so thankful to Jessie and her body building program.
So now that my arm is getting better I decided I’d join Jessies annual fitness challenge which starts Monday January 14. I’m doing her muscle building program again and this time I’m going to focus better on my nutrition and push harder on my workouts. So now you know why I was gone for sooo long. My health takes priority because I have a husband and 2 children that need me.
I will be posting updates regarding the challenge on Instagram and Facebook if you all want to follow along and cheer me on. I would love if you did to keep me motivated.
